The pretty and traditional town of Chiclana de la Frontera is situated just inland from the magnificent La Barrossa beach with stunning unspoilt coastline in both directions. The wide sandy beaches are backed by dunes, heath-land and pine forests.It’s 25kms from the historic city of Cadiz and about 6kms inland from the coast. To the east is the Caño de Sancti Petri River – it separates Chiclana from San Fernando and Cadiz. The idyllic almost abandoned island of Sancti Petri lies on Chiclana’s Atlantic coast. It’s a wonderful place from which to explore. Every summer, from mid-July to the end of September, the tourist board organise a series of rural cycling tours for your pleasure.There are also many cycle routes through the pine forests between Conil, Roche, Fuente del Gallo and El Colorado where you will find beautiful scenery peace and tranquillity or you could stop at any of the local Ventas (bar restaurants) for refreshments tapas or lunch.
Between November and April, the weather can be very changeable so include some warmer cycling clothes and carry waterproofs – just in case. During the summer months remember to drink plenty of water.
We have a great knowledge of the area as we are year round residents in Rana Verde and we are able to supply you with cycle route maps and assist you with anything else you may require. We have a range of mountain bikes which are suitable for the small asphalted roads, dirt tracks and recognised bike lanes in this area. If you love natural unspoilt countryside, love exploring new places and meeting new people then we hope you'll come along for the ride.
